212 Pressure System

In this post, we'll take a look at how a 212 Press can be used to provide 3/4 pressure on your opponent and allow you to flow into your half-court defense.

I've been using 212 Pressure as my preferred press for the past three years. We have generally used it with the intention of putting pressure on the basketball and perhaps stealing a few extra possessions over the course of the game. What I like about it the most is that we have been able to apply pressure while preventing the easy layups that accompany more aggressive full-court presses. I also feel that the 212 is easy to fall back into zone or man-to-man defense.

In this post I put together everything you'll need to implement my version of the 212 Press for next season. I included a diagrammed playbook, a link to my presentation, a detailed blog post, and five breakdown videos. If you want to be able to press, but not completely expose yourself to lay ups this is a great option.
